7.1 WHO SUPPLIED THE EXPLOSIVES ?

What type of explosives was used on"Kielland" ? Although no oficial examinations have been performed in order to find treads of explosives and assessment of type and supplyer, the damages might give us some indications.

The bainit found in the "major test" piece indicates that the impact load of the explosives on the steel must have been 700 ton/cm2 or above. The speed is important. Further the violent damages of the D4 bracing with fragments hitting the deck and lifeboats, and the shockwave creating a "100-years" water-wave tells us more about the magnitude of the explosion energy.

Thus there are two likely options; plastic or a tactical nuclear device. In both cases the number of known suppliers are limited.

As to a nuclear device, supplyer could be USSR, USA, UK, FRANCE or ISRAEL.

The connection between officials of the Israel labour party and the Norwegian labour party is well known. A connection going back to the war. As such it was Statoil's first chairman Mr. Jens Christian Hauge who in the late 50's negotiated thedeal with Israel for Norwegian supply of "heavy water" to Israels nuclear plant. His collaborator as Minister of Industry and successor as Chairman of Statoil Mr. Finn Lied was Head of the Military Research Institute for nuclear power in Norway. Statoil's Vice President at the time, Mr. Henrik Ager Hansen was a former official at the Halden nuclear plant in Norway.
