April 1979-February 1980 advisor to the “Norwegian Continental Shelf Cost Analysis Committee”, investigating cost escalations within oil field developments in the North Sea.
November 1978 - January 1979 providing marketing and sales assistance to Aker Stord Verft. Task successfully ended with Aker Stord Verft entering into a contract with Amoco for the construction of the first jacket to be installed on the Valhall Field.

CORPORATE CAREER SUMMARY:

AKER OFFSHORE CONTRACTING A/S (AOC), Stavanger,
November 1974 – October 1978.

April 1977 - October 1978 assigned to Brownaker Offshore A/S as Division Manager for Business Development and Contracts. Brownaker Offshore a 50/50 joint venture between Aker Group of Oslo and Brown & Root of Houston. Major contracts undertaken were hook up of offshore platforms on the Ekofisk Field for PPCO, and hook up of the Statfjord A platform for Mobil. Revenue on sales; 1.5 billion NOK.

January 1977 - April 1977 assigned to VEJV (Valhall Engineering Joint Venture) as Project Director for the marketing and sales of engineering and construction services for the development of the Valhall Field. VEJV was a joint venture between Aker Group of Oslo, Kværner Group of Oslo and Fred Olsen Shipowners, Oslo. The task successfully ended with entering into an engineering contract with AMOCO as operator for the Valhall Field.

September 1976 - December 1976 assigned to Aker Offshore Contracting Ltd., Aberdeen. Acted as the Company’s Managing Director with responsibility as Project Director for the hook up and commissioning contract for Shell UK in Aberdeen on Brent Delta. Left the project on schedule in December 1976 in order to undertake another challenge.

April 1976 promoted to Engineering and Quality Control Manager including Maritime Operations for AOC. Introduced Quality Assurance as management tool to improve performance and effectiveness. Thus resulting in reduction in staff (mostly consultants) from 112 to 80 employees.

December 1975 heading up a task force for final settlement with Shell UK on change orders and variations for Akers part of the design and construction of the Brent Bravo Platform. The task successfully ended in July 1976 to all parties satisfaction and a for Aker profit situation.

November 1974 - November 1975 assigned as Akers Project Manager for engineering and construction of the Brent Bravo Platform. Task included construction of deck and transport of deck from Aker Verdal to Stavanger, mounting the deck and submergence of platform on the Brent Field, which successfully took place in July 1975, and contractual completion offshore.

October 1971 - June 1974

August 1973 - June 1974 heading up Akers task force for engineering and planning of the construction of steel deck and mechanical outfitting of the Brent Bravo platform for Shell UK. The task included design and operation of the air cushion and ballast systems for moving the structure out of dry dock and submergence at deepwater site for deck mounting and submergence and installation at the Brent Field. Additional task undertaken spring 1974 was design and operation of the air cushion system on Beryl Alpha for moving her out of the dry dock in order for Brent Bravo to follow 3 weeks later.

July 1973 - August 1973 assigned as project engineer to Condeep Group, a joint venture between Aker Group and Norwegian Contractors for design and construction of the two platforms Beryl Alpha for Mobil Oil UK and Brent Bravo for Shell UK.

November 1972 - July 1973 project engineer within Akers Research and Development Department for Offshore Structures. From January 1973 headed up an engineering task force for development of steel and mechanical outfitting of the novel Condeep Offshore platform in close contact with Shell Exploration in London. The task involved design of ballast and oil storage systems, floating stability, steel deck and deck layouts. The task included technical sales promotion in coordination with partner Höyer Ellefsen and was successfully ended in July 1973 with one contract for design and construction of the Beryl A Condeep platform for Mobil and one contract for design and construction of the Brent B Condeep platform for Shell/Esso.

October 1971 - November 1972 project engineer within Akers System Design Department developing computer software for design of large and complex structures.
